The 7th and final stage of the Tour of Poland was a 25km Time trial in Krakow which Alex Dowsett (Movistar) won ahead of Jonathan Castroviejo (Movistar) and Primoz Roglic (LottoNL-Jumbo).
After stage 6 of the Tour of Poland was cancelled due to bad weather, the final stage of the national Polish tour went ahead with a 25km time trial. Tim Wellens (Lotto-Soudal) had the overall all but sewn up already after he won Saturday’s “Monsoon-type” stage by nearly 4 minutes, and so it was really just stage honours up for grabs.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka had Omar Fraile, Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Songezo Jim taking to the start of the time trial. The flat nature of the course did not suit our African Team riders with Fraile being our best placed rider on the stage, finishing in 38th and 2’12” down on Dowsett.
The poor weather in the final 3 days of the Tour of Poland brought what was in fact, a beautiful race to a close considering how the first 4 stages went. Kristian Sbaragli finished in the top 10 on 3 of those first four stages, results our African Team are happy with considering the high quality field.
