The Tour de Pologne came to a conclusion on Friday in Bukowina Tatrzańska with hometown favourite Michal Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) holding on for overall victory.
Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) put up a valiant final day’s effort to try and snatch victory but despite soloing to an impressive win, wasn’t able to claw back enough time.
For our team, the tough conditions saw Ben O’Connor our best finisher and a pleasing effort as he continues his comeback following his crash in the closing stages of the Giro d’Italia earlier in the year.

The final day here was mighty difficult and technical – due to some thunderstorms making the already treacherously bumpy roads a nightmare.
Edvald did a great job looking after myself up until a small crash – he is okay, thankfully!
The final steep slopes really took its toll, and the final climb I did what I could to finish. Not a result to write home about but feeling better and better each day is good signs for some of the key goals going forward.
There are many races left in the season to put the hands back up in the air.
