Tour de Yorkshire #3: Pauwels poised

Saturday’s stage three of the Tour de Yorkshire saw Max Walscheid (Sunweb) take the victory in front of a massive crowd in Scarborough.

Importantly for our team Serge Pauwels finished among the main group and so retained 4th position on the GC, 16 seconds behind race leader Magnus Cort Nielsen (Astana).

Sunday’s 4th and final stage is a very tough 190km stage that starts in Halifax and ends in Leeds.

We thought it was going to be a bunch sprint (finish) but obviously that all depends in reality on how the race pans out on the day.

There was a short, sharp climb with about 50km to go and BMC decided to take the race on and make it quite difficult. We were looking after Cav up until that point, along with Serge as our GC man.

Then the main goal switched to getting him to the end of the race without losing any time for tomorrow which is our big GC day.
