This weekend Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will start the Tour de Suisse, the final UCI World Tour race before the Tour de France next month in July.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will take the start of the Tour de Suisse, with the race getting underway on Saturday 15 June. The race will comprise of 9 stages, with stage 1 & 8 being individual time trials.
There will be a few options for the fast men as stage 2, 3 & 4 could suit a mass sprint finish but then back-end of the race is geared for the GC men, as the race heads into the Swiss alps every other day.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will have a strong lineup with objectives centered around top stage results and a good overall classification.
For Gino Mader, our neo pro, the Tour du Suisse will hold great importance as it is home Tour and also his opportunity to get a real taste of World Tour racing after a broken wrist put an end to his exploits in Catalunya & Romandie earlier this year.
“Of course I do look forward to race on home soil and it will be special to pass my last three “homes” as I lived in Burgdorf (20 km) away from Langnau where we pass the first few days.
Then we ride over Passwang and pass the town I lived for 16 years and stage 5 is where I live now, so actually the further we go the more my personal history moves along too.
But I am also quite nervous as it is one of the first races I watched on TV and basically I know all the roads from training and I am scared that I will never be able to ride these roads without the memory of suffering again.” – Gino Mader
