The UCI World Tour heads to Switzerland tomorrow, as the Tour de Romandie gets underway in Neuchatel with a 3.9km prologue.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka is looking forward to the coming 6 days of racing at the Tour de Romandie and will hope to impress in front of our “new” Swiss based partners, BMC and ASSOS.
The Tour de Romandie will also be a key event for our team as some riders will look to fine tune their shape ahead of the Giro d’Italia, while it will also see the return of Louis Meintjes and Gino Mader after injury.
Meintjes crashed heavily at Paris-Nice, injuring his groin, and Romandie will be the first race back for our South African climber. Mader crashed out of Volta Catalunya, his first ever World Tour race, with a fractured wrist.
“It is good to finally be lining up for a race again. It’s been a slightly frustrating wait, recovering, from the crash at Paris-Nice but I am glad that is behind me now. Romandie will pretty much be like starting my season over again, which can be a good thing because even without knowing what kind of shape I do or don’t have currently, we can still only build from here.” – Louis Meintjes
