Simon Yates (Mitchelton-Scott) soloed to victory on today’s summit finish of Prat d’Albis. The podium was completed by Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) and Mikel Landa (Movistar).
Today’s stage was the second consecutive mountain stage, which included two category one climbs. Roman Kreuziger was in the action, escaping with a group of 28 riders on Col de Montségur.
Yates and Simon Geschke (CCC Team) went off the front on the second climb, But it was Yates who attacked with 8.5km left and took the stage win.
Kreuziger rode steadily up the final climb, finishing in 17th place, just 2’58” behind the stage winner. Kreuziger’s strong ride saw him gain time in the general classification, and he is 14th overall, as we head into the final week of the Tour de France.
