Tour de France #10: Boasson Hagen makes Top10

In a hectic final, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka’s Edvald Boasson Hagen managed to take home another Top10 result on stage 10 of Tour de France.

Following the script from the previous days, the early break got away right from the beginning of the stage. Only two riders dared to take on the peloton and even though they got a gap of over five minutes, the expected bunch sprint was never really in jeopardy.

The pack had everything under control the whole day and with six kilometers left to go, the two front riders were reeled back in again. From here on, the fight for positions near the front of the peloton got very intense. All the teams of the sprinters wanted to be at the front and unfortunately, in the middle of the chaos, the Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka riders lost each other. The team was eager to set up Boasson Hagen after the strong Norwegian narrowly missed out on the win on stage 7. However, this time, Boasson Hagen had to settle for 10th place as Marcel Kittel (Quick Step Floors) took his fourth stage win. Chris Froome (Team Sky) still leads overall, while Serge Pauwels is the team’s best-placed rider as number 31 in the general classification.

Tomorrow, the race continues with another stage for the sprinters.

Reinardt Janse van Rensburg:
“This was actually a very easy day with just two guys at the front. However, the final was very hectic and the wind didn’t make it any easier. All the teams were fighting to take the front. Unfortunately, we lost each other a little bit with two kilometers to go. After that, we tried to move back to the front but it just wasn’t possible anymore”.
