Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quickstep) raced to victory at today’s Strade Bianche, beating Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) and Wout van Aert (Team Jumbo-Visma) into the minor podium placings respectively.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka had Roman Kreuziger, Ben King and Michael Valgren looking good on the gravel white roads around Siena and all 3 were part of the action deep into the race.
When the decisive split took place around 40km to go though, Krueziger was caught in the 2nd group after trying to come back from a bike change with King and Valgren chasing from group 3.
Alaphilippe and Fuglsang rode away from the front runners in the finale, with the Frenchman proving to be the strongest on the day. Krueziger fought to the end, finishing in 20th place as our first rider across the line.
