On Monday, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka starts out BinckBank Tour with a strong and fast team ready to fight for glory in the Dutch World Tour race.
Formerly known as Eneco Tour, BinckBank Tour takes the riders on seven challenging stages throughout Holland and Belgium. The opening day is one for the sprinters, while stage two is a 9 km long individual time trial. The fast riders will get another chance to sprint for victory on stage three and four before the terrain changes.
The final three stages all bear resemblances to races in the spring campaign. Stage five includes roads from Amstel Gold Race, while stage six looks like a mini Liège-Bastogne-Liège. The last stage of BinckBank Tour finishes on the iconic Muur van Geraardsbergen, known from Tour of Flanders. The riders who favor the spring classics will be the top favorites for the overall victory on Sunday.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will focus on stage hunting with several fast riders able to get in the mix and sprint for victory. The team will line up with Tyler Farrar, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Mark Renshaw, Ryan Gibbons, Scott Thwaites, Kristian Sbaragli, Jay Thomson and Johann Van Zyl.
Jean-Pierre Heynderickx, sports director:
“The main goal is to win a stage. We bring a good mix of experienced riders, young sprinters and strong rouleurs. The sprinters will get a chance already on the first stage but the wind can also be an important factor. We are ready for whatever happens”.
