Tyler Farrar will return to racing when he lines-up with his Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung teammates at the Spanish one day race, the Clasica de Almeria on Sunday. Tyler is coming off a successful start to the season at the Herald Sun Tour in Australia where he consistently rode well, including just missing out on a stage win when he finished 2nd on stage 3.
Traditionally the Clasica de Almeria has always suited the sprinters but the races early rolling hills will certainly soften the legs and eliminate any sprinter whose early season preparation had not gone according to plan. While Tyler may be our favoured rider on the day, we will still be prepared for every eventuality with a strong line-up.
Steve Cummings, fresh off opening our win account at the Challenge Mallorca will also start on Sunday. Nicolas Dougall, Songezo Jim and Matthew Brammeier who all rode alongside Tyler down under, make up the rest of our squad for the day.
More details on the race can be found on the events website: www.clasicadealmeria.net
Tyler Farrar – Rider
“I am really looking forward to riding Almeria this weekend. I have never ridden there before, so it will be a bit of uncharted territory for me. It looks like it’s a lumpy sprinters course, which suits our team perfectly. Everybody is going pretty well now that we have a bit of racing in our legs, we’ll be looking to fight for the win on Sunday.”
