NTT Pro Cycling are all set to take on the traditional Italian UCI 2.1 stage race, Coppi Bartali, which get’s underway tomorrow in Gatteo.
Coppi Bartali will once again begin with two half stages on the opening day. A flat 98km circuit race in the morning will be followed by a 13km team time trial in the afternoon.
It will then be a more conventional race structure, with 3 road stages taking place over the next 3 days. Each stage being characterised by the short sharp hills synonymous with the Emilia-Romagna region.
NTT Pro Cycling has a team well-suited to the demands of the race. Similarly matched climbers, Ben O’Connor, Stefan de Bod, Matteo Sobrero and Gino Mader will be joined by Reinardt Janse van Rensburg and Rasmus Tiller.
As a team we are looking forward to Coppi Bartali and the opportunity this race provides for us to do well. A solid start on the first day will be important, particularly having a smooth team time trial, to set us up for the final three climbing stages. As we’ve seen with every race since season restart, the level will be quite high here. 10 other UCI World Team’s will be at the start and many other continental teams, and they will no doubt be hoping to prove themselves against the top teams. So we will need to race smart and as a unit, to get the best result possible for NTT Pro Cycling.Stefan de Bod
