The next Italian single day classic on NTT Pro Cycling’s calendar is the UCI 1.Pro Gran Piemonte, taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 12 August.
This year’s edition of the Gran Piemonte will take riders over a new 187km route, including numerous climbs around a circuit in Barolo. For NTT Pro Cycling, the race will serve as the perfect opener ahead of the weekend’s Il Lombardia.
Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier will be leading our South African UCI World Team at Piemonte, as the Eritrean climber begins his build-up toward the Giro d’Italia with an all Italian race calendar.
Ghebreigzabhier, as our protected rider, will receive support from Danilo Wyss, Ben King, Gino Mader, Stefan de Bod, Benjamin Dyball and Matteo Sobrero.
“Amanuel is a very talented rider. We have seen flashes of brilliance from him over the last two years, at some of the biggest and toughest races. Now, in 2020, our hope is he can take that next step in his career. Even though the year has not started as planned, Amanuel has remained focused throughout the lockdown period and trained well. Piemonte will be his first appointment ahead of bigger objectives planned for him this year.”Bingen Fernandez – NTT Pro Cycling Sport Director
