Jacques Janse van Rensburg crashed a few meters after crossing the finish line at today’s Tour de Romandie prologue.
Unfortunately our South African climber, Jacques Janse van Rensburg, crashed just meters after crossing the finish line at the Tour de Romandie today. The crash was as a result of the race organisations electric cable coverings that lay across the road.
“Scans have revealed that Jacques has a fracture of the right clavicle. At this stage, surgery will not be required as part of his recovery process. Our medical team will now continue to monitor Jacques until he has made a full recovery, but unfortunately he will be out of racing action for at least the next 4 weeks.” – Dr Ruben Anemüller
Janse van Rensburg was not the only rider to crash out of the race due to the covering that had been laid down by the race organisation. Sam Bewley (Mitchelton-Scott) was also a victim, Team Dimension Data wish the New Zealander a fast recovery.
