Max Walscheid ensured Team Qhubeka ASSOS ended the already hugely successful 2021 Giro d’Italia on a high note, as he placed 6th on the final stage.
The final stage of the Giro d’Italia saw the riders have to take on a 30km individual time trial from Senago to Milan, finishing in front of the Duomo di Milano.
Max Walscheid, continued to show his time trialing abilities are ever improving as he set a blistering time over the mostly flat course to momentarily move into the hot seat.
After already taking 8th on the opening stage time trial, Walscheid put in another stellar performance against the clock as his time during stage 21 would be good enough for 6th place on the day.
Lukasz Wisniowski, Bert-Jan Lindeman, Mauro Schmid and Kilian Frankiny all completed the final stage without issue to close the curtain on our team’s best ever Giro d’Italia, which included the 3 stage wins of Schmid (stage 11), Giacomo Nizzolo (stage 13), Victor Campenaerts (stage 15), 5 other stage top 10 placing’s and Nizzolo also wearing the Maglia Ciclamino.
