Lineup: Tour de la Provence

On Thursday, NTT Pro Cycling will lineup for Tour de la Provence, a four-day race set in southeastern France.

Stage one will be a flat, fast stage and likely result a bunch sprint. The remaining three stages will be a test of attrition, with two summit finishes on the cards, including Mont Ventoux/Chalet Reynard on Saturday.

NTT Pro Cycling will have Giacomo Nizzolo leads the line for us among our sprint options. Nizzolo secured our first victory of the year on Stage 5 at the Tour Down Under. The experience of Roman Kreuziger and Danilo Wyss will provide support to those two, while also guidance to the young, trio of Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier, Rasmus Tiller and neo-pro Matteo Sobrero.

Our line-up is completed in exciting fashion as Domenico Pozzovio makes a much-anticipated return to the pro peloton. He has not raced since August 2019 due to injury and will be excited to show off his new NTT colours for the first time this season.

Roman Kreuziger

“I’m looking forward to this four-stage race, from tomorrow to Sunday. Tomorrow we can expect some action with the wind on the flat stage. It will be a good day for the fast guys. Friday and Saturday will be two busy days, with between 2500 – 3000 meters of climbing, with uphill finishes. On Saturday, we climb the famous Mont Ventoux, with the finish close to Chalet Reynard, into the forest. We don’t do the whole climb, but it is already a 15km, which makes it pretty difficult. Pozzovio should be in the action, as he feels alright and he would like to go for the GC. The last stage, on the map, looks pretty tricky. It’s around 2500m of climbing, with lots of up and downs. It could be a day for the breakaway or a day for the fast guys.

I’m looking forward to pinning on a number to our beautiful blue jersey and to seeing how my form improves. For me, now it’s important to help the team and to do the teamwork because I know my time will come later in the season. ”
