On Sunday, the UCI World Tour heads to Germany for the one day Cyclassics Hamburg. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will send a sprint heavy team, led by Edvald Boasson Hagen.
The Cyclassics Hamburg will see a familiar 220km route which has in previous years, generally seen a reduced group sprinting for the win. With the majority of the World Tour sprinters opting not to race the climber friendly Vuelta a Espana, we expect a stacked field of sprinters in Hamburg. Fortunately, there are a few climbs in the surrounding Hamburg area which we hope, together with some possible wind, will shake up the racing.
As a former victor in Hamburg, Edvald Boasson Hagen will lead our African Team come Sunday. To support Boasson Hagen, we are putting the full might of our leadout behind him with Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Mark Renshaw, Bernhard Eisel, Ryan Gibbons, Kristian Sbaragli, Jay Thomson and Tyler Farrar all starting.

It’s great to be heading back to race in Germany this weekend. The Cyclassics Hamburg is a wonderful event which attracts a lot of spectators and there is always a good atmosphere at the race. We’ll have a strong team to rely on, with a number of guys who have a fast finish. There is normally a selection by the time the race comes back into Hamburg though so if we can have numbers in front, then we stand as good a chance as any to pull off a big result.
