The exciting and beautiful four-stage Arctic Race of Norway gets underway on Thursday, starting with a hilly 181km stage from Å to Leknes.
It will be a stage that the likes of Tom-Jelte Slagter, Enrico Gasparotto as well as Steve Cummings will likely have a particular eye on.
To support those riders we have a highly experienced trio which including Bernie Eisel, Danilo Wyss and Jay Thomson. Eisel in 2017 won the King of the Mountains category in this race taking home 500kg of salmon as his prize.
The alternate stages of the race are flat with the queen stage summit finish at Svolvær, on Saturday, sure to provide fireworks and prove decisive overall.
“We are ready to go to Arctic! I can not tell you that I’m excited, it’s not the moment just yet but I’m curious to discover a country like Norway where I’ve never been before to race. It looks there are few stages for puncheurs, so I hope to get some good results after a difficult Tour de Pologne.” – Enrico Gasparotto
“It’s an amazing race in amazing scenery. The guys are motivated to do well and the race fits perfectly for the team we have set up here. The third stage, with an uphill finish, will be decisive for the GC and it’s also there the main focus and goal lies.
“We certainly have the riders for it, and with Gaspa and TJ we really have good cards to play. Danilo as well has good experience of the race up here in the North. So we have everything on place to make a good race for us!” – Gino Van Oudenhove
