Michael Gogl is the latest name to be confirmed to have signed for next season as part of our very exciting rebrand as Team NTT in 2020.
The 25-year-old Austrian is currently in his third season with Trek-Segafredo and brings a wealth of experience to our outfit, after having first ridden on the WorldTour in 2015. That was as part of the Tinkoff team and followed four years at Continental level.
Gogl’s ridden four Grand Tours, including the Tour de France twice and secured a fourth-place stage finish on his debut at the Vuelta a Espana in 2016.
In 2019 he rode the Giro d’Italia in the service of Bauke Mollema, who finished 5th overall, and he was also the runner-up at the Austrian road race championships in Mondsee.
I am indeed very proud to join the Team in the future and to open a new sporting chapter together. The talks that I held with Douglas Ryder convinced and motivated me immediately. I am looking forward to racing, especially the classics, where we will have a strong team.
Added to that I simply want to race my bike as fast as I can, bring my experience to the team and at the same time support the Qhubeka charity. In all, a perfect combination that sees me really happy and positive about the future.
Douglas Ryder, Team Principal
We are delighted to have Michael join us from next season as we transition into Team NTT. It’s a very exciting time for us, and the wealth of experience he adds makes this an important time for us.
He comes from a very competitive environment where he worked with one of our current riders, Giacomo Nizzolo, and so we’ll be leaning on that experience in order for us to assist him in taking the next step up in his career.
