Fleche Wallonne: Gaspa fights for top 10 result

Julian Alaphilippe (Decueninck-Quickstep) won La Fleche Wallonne, beating Jakob Fuglsang (Astana) to the top of the famous Mur du Huy with Diego Ulissi (UAE-Emirates) rounding out the podium.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka had high hopes for La Fleche Wallonne, with Roman Kreuziger and Enrico Gasparotto both looking for a result at the top of the Mur. The team supported our two leaders well, protecting them from the wind in the early stages of the race and Tom-Jelte Slagter marking some dangerous late attacks.

Unfortunately, disaster struck when Kreuziger crashed heavily in the final 40km. Thankfully, he was able to pick himself up again but his race was over. Medical checks later revealed there were no serious injuries to report.

This left just Gasparotto to contend for a result and the Italian fought right to the finish, claiming a credible 10th place for us.
