Team Qhubeka NextHash will compete at the 5-stage Tour of Slovakia, which gets underway on Wednesday 15 September. The race will also see a return to action for Domenico Pozzovivo, since the Italian crashed out of the Tour of Burgos in August.
The Tour of Slovakia will be a key race for Team Qhubeka NextHash, as it allows Pozzovivo to return to action as part of his ongoing recovery process, since fracturing his knee at the Vuelta a Burgos.
The race will also provide us with the opportunity to give two of our continental team riders, Antonio Puppio and Luca Coati, the chance to gain valuable experience racing with the World Tour team once again. The u23 Italian duo are both on the long list for their national team’s world championship squad too, and Slovakia would be a great tune up event for them, if selected.
The Tour of Slovakia begins with a short prologue before 4 road stages, all of which are undulating but without any significant major climbs or summit finishes. This should make for an open race with small time gaps deciding the overall classification.
Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, Dylan Sunderland, Andreas Stokbro and Karel Vacek will complete our line-up for the UCI 2.1 race.
