Criterium du Dauphine #3: DiData puts down solid TTT effort for 11th

The 3rd stage of the Criterium du Dauphine took shape in the form of a 35km team time trial. Team Sky was fastest against the clock, beating BMC Racing and Lotto-Soudal into 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Not renowned for our team time trialing ability and starting today’s race against the clock at the Criterium du Dauphine one rider short, our African Team was maybe not expecting any real fireworks in Louhans-Chateaurenaud today.

We were 3rd out of the start house, with intermediate time checks waiting at kilometers 14 and 24.5. A slight crosstail wind and the flat nature of the course suited the likes of Edvald Boasson Hagen and Steve Cummings, and so we held the top spot at the provisional time checks momentarily.

Our African Team really combined well and seemed to only get faster while a number of teams probably started a little too fast and slowed near the finish. In the end, after having the 15th fastest time at the first time check, we went on to finish the stage in a credible 11th position out of the 22 teams.

That was a great effort by the team today. We had a plan for today’s stage and it felt like we executed it really well. The team was really smooth and we were able to keep the speed high throughout. To only be a couple of seconds away from some of the top TTT teams, it is good, and this has been a good confidence boost going forward.
