Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) made easy work of stage 3 of the Criterium du Dauphine, winning the stage sprint ahead of Wout Van Aert (Team Jumbo Visma) and Davide Ballerini (Team Astana).
It was another cool and wet day of racing at the Criterium du Dauphine for stage 3. The 177km stage was always going to be one for the sprinters and that is how the final would play out.
Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka were looking to Edvald Boasson Hagen once again, following his brilliant stage 1 victory. Jaco Venter and Julien Vermote were on hand to provide support to our Norwegian in the final 10km.
Once Vermote pulled off with around 1km to go, Boasson Hagen surfed the wheels until the sprint launched proper. A slight lull in the speed saw some riders surge from behind Boasson Hagen, including the stage favourite, Bennett. He had the best leadout in the end and captilised by taking a good win. Boasson Hagen would cross the line in 6th place for us.
