Kristian Sbaragli, Jacques Janse van Rensburg and Jaco Venter have all renewed their agreements with Team MTN-Qhubeka. Sbaragli has been with Team MTN-Qhubeka since 2013 while Janse van Rensburg and Venter both joined the team in 2012 (Venter also rode for the team in 2010). All 3 riders have shown steady improvement over the last 2 years and each proved their quality once again at the recent Vuelta a Espana, forming part of the 9 rider team that managed to finish.

Pauwels joins Team MTN-Qhubeka after having spent the past 5 years racing at the World Tour level. Pauwels is a super strong domestique who has ridden in support of a number of grand tour contenders and also has an impressive team time trial record. Having ridden all 3 grand tours, Pauwels experience is a resource that will be extremely important to our team as we look to develop our young African climbers into real GC contenders. Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung are delighted to announce that Australian, Matthew Goss will join Team MTN-Qhubeka for the 2015 cycling season. Goss is an exceptional bike rider who has won races in multiple World Tour events, including stages of the Giro d’ Italia, Tirreno-Adriatico and Paris-Nice. The victory that really stands out on Goss’ palmares though, is his 2011 Milano-Sanremo triumph. While Goss is a seasoned professional having spent his last 8 years racing on World Tour teams, the Aussie star at only 27 years of age, has his best racing years ahead of him. Tyler Farrar has joined Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung for the 2015 cycling season. The American sprinter has spent his last 7 years with the current World Tour outfit, Garmin Sharp. Farrar is also part of a select group of riders in world cycling that has won a stage in each of the 3 grand tours. Farrar brings a tremendous amount of experience with him to Team MTN-Qhubeka as well as some pure speed and power that will fit directly into the team’s plans and goals for the 2015 cycling season. Former track Olympic silver medalist and 5 time world champion, Theo Bos, will ride in the colours of Team MTN-Qhubeka next season. While racing for the Rabobank and Belkin Pro-Cycling Team outfits over the last 4 years, Bos has been able to take his professional win tally up to 35 race victories. Most recently Bos won a stage in the World Tour event, Tour de Pologne, the overall GC victory at the World Ports classic and 4 stage wins in the crazy bunch sprints of Le Tour de Langkawi earlier in the year. After spending two years in the World Tour squads Argos-Shimano and Giant-Shimano, Reinardt Janse van Rensburg will return to Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung for the 2015-2016 seasons. Janse van Rensburg burst on to the international cycling scene during the 2011 Herald Sun Tour with a stage victory whilst riding for the MTN-Qhubeka UCI Continental Team. Janse van Rensburg confirmed his talent the following season by notching up a total of 14 victories, the most by any continental rider that year. Janse van Rensburg had attracted the attention of multiple World Tour teams and so moved on to Team Argos-Shimano in 2013, as he pursued his goals of racing in.

Team MTN-Qhubeka has announced today the appointment of Brian Smith as interim General Manager until the end of the year, with immediate effect. With the recent addition of several sponsors and the continued growth of the organization, Brian is charged with preparing the team for the 2015 season, including the selection and hiring of several marquee riders, staff & management and expanding the team’s infrastructure. During his engagement, he will also be part of the process to appoint a full-time General Manager before the end of the year. Brian has worked with Gerard Vroomen during the setup of the Cervelo TestTeam and also fulfilled this role.
