Abu Dhabi Tour #4: Davies fastest against the clock for Dimension Data

Rohan Dennis (BMC Racing) won the 4th stage individual time trial at the Abu Dhabi Tour. Jonathan Castroviejo (Team Sky) finished in 2nd place in the race against the clock with Miles Scotson (BMC Racing) rounding out the stage podium.

The 12.6km time trial around Al Maryah Island was flat and fast, though a number of right angle corners and a 180 degree turnaround did add some technicality to the course. Our African Team was hoping our British National Champion, Steve Cummings would feature near the pointy end of the leaderboard, but with Abu Dhabi Tour being his first race of the season, it was not to be for Stevo today.

It was the other Brit on our team who went on to post our fastest time of the day. 22-year-old Scott Davies stopped the clock with a time of 15’20”, which would end up being 59 seconds behind the time of the stage winner, Dennis. Tomorrow will see the Abu Dhabi Tour come to its conclusion with the queen stage, a summit finish on Green Mountain. A big battle for the overall GC is expected and so its sure to be an exciting race.

Scott Davies – Rider
Overall, I’m pleased with how I felt today. Unfortunately I messed up the first corner and lost some time there, which is frustrating. All things considered, it’s a decent starting point for the first time trial of the season and it gives me a better idea of what to work on ahead of my next time trial.
