Magnus Cort Nielsen (EF Education First) sprinted to the Vuelta a Espana stage 16 victory, winning from a reduced group in Ciudad Rodrigo. Stage 16 of the Vuelta a Espana saw a nervy bunch take to the start, as crosswinds seemed to be on everyone’s mind today. However, the wind never really picked up enough to affect the racing as expected and 6 riders would form the break of the day. It was more the mid stage climbs, and their technical descents that began to whittle down the peloton. In the end, it was a reduced peloton of 50 odd riders versus the final lone.
