Ilnur Zakarin (Katusha) won stage 13 of the Giro d’Italia, beating Mikel Nieve (Mitchelton-Scott) to the summit of the magnificent Ceresole Reale. 3rd place went the way of Mikel Landa (Movistar). With 3 big climbs on today’s menu at the Giro d’Italia, the finale being 34km long up to Lagu Serru on Ceresole Reale, it was always going to be a big day for the GC contenders. For the fast men though, it was a suffer fest, one which Mark Renshaw pulled the plug midway through the stage to bring his 2019 Giro d’Italia to an end. The rest of our team gave their all.
