Pascal Ackerman (Bora-Hansgrohe) sprinted to the stage 2 victory at the Giro d’Italia today. Elia Viviani (Deceuninck-Quickstep) finished 2nd and Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) was 3rd. After a wet start in Bologna, the 200km stage to Fuccechio saw the clouds lift for an exciting and dry sprint finale. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka had its hopes pinned on Giacomo Nizzolo for the final dash but unfortunately, disaster struck at 10km to go when Nizzolo punctured. It was a real pity as the team had shaped up well for the finale with Enrico Gasparotto in particular, looking really strong in the closing 5km. Ryan Gibbons took on.
