Mathieu Van der Poel (Corendon Circus) won the Brabantse Pijl ahead of Julian Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quickstep) and Tim Wellens (Lotto-Soudal). For Team Dimension Data, today’s race was somewhat of a test for Enrico Gasparotto and Roman Kreuziger as to where there form might be heading into the weekend’s Amstel Gold Race. The race was fierce with numerous attacks over the sharp climbing parcours. Our Ardennes specialist duo showed they were up to the task, always present near the front of the main group. In the final, it was the big names of Van der Poel, Alaphilippe, Wellens and Michael Matthews (Sunweb) that managed to clip off.

Sam Bennett (Bora-Hansgrohe) made it two out of two, by winning today’s stage 2 of the Tour of Turkey. Felix Grossschartner (Bora-Hangrohe) was 2nd and Jhonatan Restrepo (Manzana Postobon) 3rd. A tough and technical finale made stage 2 of the Tour of Turkey an exciting affair. The short steep ramps in the final 3km meant the GC riders were in with a shot, but the short nature of the climb kept some of the sprinters interested. Team Dimension Data looked to play two cards, Ryan Gibbons for a sprint and Ben O’Connor if the GC riders made a move. The team did a solid job.
