An excellent ride to the finish of stage 5 at Alto Colorado saw Gino Mäder finish in an impressive 10th place at the Vuelta a San Juan. The stage was won by Winner Anacona (Movistar) who was followed home by the Medellin pair of Nicolas Paredes and Cristhian Montoya. Anacona’s win sees him usurp Julian Alaphilppe (DQS) in the general classification and he now leads the race overall by 41 seconds. Mäder’s efforts saw him placed 11th in the GC and now just a narrow 2 seconds behind Remco Evenepoel (DQS) in the young rider category. Move of the day With just under 3km to go Alaphilippe launched his attack trying to claw back Anacona.
