The 2019 UCI World Championships take place this week in Yorkshire, and Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will have representation in 4 of the events through the week.
The u23 individual time trial takes place on Tuesday over a 30.3km course. After finishing 9th in last year’s edition of the event, Matteo Sobrero from our continental feeder team will take on the clock once again.
In the elite men’s individual time trial, Stefan de Bod (South Africa) and Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier (Eritrea) will both start the 54km test on Wednesday.
The u23 road race will feature four of our young continental feeder team talents. Samuele Battistella & Alexander Konychev (Italy) will be joined by Samuel Mugisha (Rwanda) and Natnael Tesfatsion (Eritrea). Their race will be decided over a 186km route on Friday.
The final race of the championships will be the elite men’s 285km road race on Sunday. Last year we saw a thrilling race around Innsbruck where current Team Dimension Data riders, Roman Kreuziger (Czech Republic) and Michael Valgren (Denmark) finished in 6th & 7th respectively.
This year, both Kreuziger and Valgren will be on the start once again and they will be joined by 6 other Team Dimension Data team members. Ryan Gibbons, Stefan de Bod and Nicholas Dlamini will represent South Africa. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Norway), Amanuel Ghebreigzabhier (Eritrea) and Danilo Wyss (Switzerland) will also be in their national colours.
