Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) won the 2nd stage of the Tour de France, and in doing so pulled on the overall race leaders yellow jersey too. Sonny Colbrelli (Bahrain-Merida) finished in 2nd place and Arnaud Demare (Groupama-FDJ) was 3rd. It was another sprinters day at the Tour de France as the peloton took on the 182km stage to La Roche-sur-Yon. Initially 3 riders formed the break of the day, but after the single King of the Mountains point was taken, only Sylvain Chavanel (Direct Energie) carried on up the road alone. The peloton gave the Frenchman a lead of just over 4-minutes, with Quickstep-Floors controlling proceedings..

Giovanni Visconti (Bahrain-Meirda) took the uphill sprint victory on stage 2 of the Tour of Austria today. In 2nd place it was Michel Kreder (Aqua Blue Sport), he came in just ahead of Huub Duijn (Verandas Willems-Crelan). It was a 180km stage that lay ahead of the riders, as they left Feldkirch for Telfes. Today there was a fair bit more climbing on the cards, but the cat 1 climb to Arlberg peaked with still over 130km to go, so did not affect the stage result all that much. An early break of 6-riders was controlled by Bahrain-Merida and as a cat 2 climb was.
