A strong 5th place finish from Merhawi Kudus on stage two of the Tour of Oman will see our 24-year-old now don the white jersey as the leading young rider in the race. The stage was won by Nathan Haas (Katusha-Alpecin) followed by Greg van Avermaet (BMC) and Alexey Lutsenko (Astana). The second day of racing in Oman was from Sultan Qaboos University to Al Bustan and featured a number of climbs over the 167.5kms route. An early four-man breakaway after 8 kilometres included Loic Chetout (Cofidis), Markel Irizar (Trek-Segafredo), Fabricio Ferrari (Cajal) and Danny Pate who spent most of the race out in front..

Dylan Groenewegen (Team LottoNL-Jumbo) claimed the first stage at the Volta ao Algarve, as the day ended in a bunch sprint. The first stage of Volta ao Algarve got underway today from Albufeira to Lagos. The 192,6km stage was the season opener for two of our team leaders, Louis Meintjes and Edvald Boasson Hagen. Within the first two km of racing, a break consisting of Josu Zabala (Caja Rural – Seguros RGA), Nuno Almeida (LA Alumínios), David Livramento (Sporting-Tavira), Luís Afonso (Vito-Feirense-BlackJack) and João Rodrigues (W52-FC Porto) managed to start to build a lead over the peloton. The furthest they managed to stretch their lead.
