Danny van Poppel (Team Sky) won stage 5 of the Tour of Poland by beating Luka Mezgec (Orica-Scott) into 2nd place, Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) finished in 3rd position. It was a shorter stage in Poland today as riders took on 130km from Olimp Nagawczyna to Rzeszow. Again racing got underway in the blistering heat but with 20km to go, the heavens opened as it poured down. The sudden downpour made the final kilometers really tricky as a number of riders went down on the slippery surface. From the 5 rider early break, Tejay van Gaarderen (BMC Racing) made it as far as the final climb.

Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka’s Ben King continues to impress in Vuelta a Burgos. Once again, the American won all three intermediate sprints, which secured him another day in the blue jersey. Matteo Trentin (Quick Step Floors) won the stage in a bunch sprint. Like yesterday, a strong group of riders managed to distance the peloton early on the stage. King was very attentive and even though he had spent a lot of energy in the break on stage 1, he still managed to make it into the front group again today. Wearing the blue jersey as the leader of the intermediate sprints competition, King.

Stage 4 of the Tour of Poland was a real scorcher. Nic Dougall got into the break for us before it all came down to a big bunch kick. Here are some images from the stage..
