The 3rd stage of the Paris-Nice was cancelled after riders had completed 93km of the scheduled 165km, due to poor weather and dangerous racing conditions. An early breakaway of 16 riders formed as the race moved in the direction of Mont Brouilly. With the temperature only just above zero, riders were pushing on through a torrential downpour.
