The South African National Championships will take place from 10th – 14th February in the KwaZulu-Natal Province. The elite time trial happens on Thursday 11th and the elite/u23 road race will be the final event on Sunday the 14th.  Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will be out to defend the national road race champions jersey that it has held for the last 3 years in succession and hopefully, also win the time trial title that Daryl Impey (Orica-GreenEdge) has held onto since 2013. It is always a special occasion when we get the opportunity to race at ‘home’ and our African Team takes great pride.

A mass crash would affect the 2nd Tour of Qatar stage but our Dimension Data for Qhubeka team kept out of trouble in the front of peloton to have Mark Cavendish take 2nd place in a photo finish with Alexander Kristoff (Katusha). Roy Jans (Wanty Gobert) was 3rd. The 2nd stage of the of the Tour of Qatar saw the peloton head off into a stern headwind, making for a tough start to the day. 4 riders tried to muscle away in the early kilometers, but after getting a minute gap, Katusha and Bora brought them back in order to contest the first intermediate sprint.
