The 1st stage of the Tour de France was a spectacle unrivaled by anything else we have experienced. We could not have hoped for a better start to our Grande Boucle either with Steve Cummings finishing in a terrific 10th place. It was a day of so many highs for Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung with Daniel Teklehaimanot being the first rider to get the 102nd Tour de France started as he rolled off the start ramp at 14:00 in Utrecht. The crowds, which were bursting at the seams at around 800 000 strong, made for an unbelievable atmosphere which really motivated our African team. Each of our riders put in strong.

The Tour of Austria got underway today with a short 5.4km team time trial prologue today. Team MTN-Qhubeka p/b Samsung put in a stunning ride to finish in 2nd place, less than 1 second behind Team Katusha.  Being the 10th team to start today, our African team went all out to post a fast time. A tremendous effort from all the boys saw us go top of the leaderboard with an average speed of just over 56km/h. There would be another 10 teams to come across the finishline after us, including the 6 World Tour teams. Our time of 5’46” would nervously stand the test.

South African champ, Jacques Janse van Rensburg takes us through his and the teams preparations on getting ready for the 102nd Tour de France at our service course in Lucca, Italy..
